Andrew Ding, M.D.
I am a board-certified psychotherapist and psychiatrist specializing in existential and spiritual issues with a focus on psychedelic and holistic medicine. I offer a flexible, wide-ranging perspective informed by influences ranging from modern, integrative Western medicine, to psychoanalysis, to Eastern spirituality that acknowledges the interplay between mind, body, and spirit. The aim is to foster not only self-knowledge but progress from insight to embodiment, contradiction to paradox, and alienation to connection.
I seek to help people develop clarity, agency, and meaning through a variety of approaches, from the concrete such as nutrition, movement, and judicious medication prescribing, to the spiritual through modalities such as psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Any issue can be seen, like a sphere, from infinite perspectives and with respect for the mutually inclusive virtues of contemporary Western science and complementary traditions. The combination and sequence of methods will be tailored to your goals and values.
Whether you are struggling with a formal diagnosis, the difference between intellectual understanding and enacted emotional change, feeling unfulfilled despite following social prescriptions, or something you can’t quite articulate, I aspire to form a non-judgmental alliance that, rather than solely ameliorating symptoms, integrates various perspectives to address the roots of your challenges, facilitating the native capacity to heal.
I am trained in treating a broad range of mental health issues and specialize in addressing trauma, grief, relational issues, anxiety, and depression. The process melds various psychotherapies with lifestyle medicine to improve healthspan. I work frequently with professionals, athletes, artists and most of all—those seeking to deepen a sense of well-being through meaning and growth.
I am an avid climber and skier, as well as a former wilderness guide and varsity college athlete with an affinity for music, cooking, meditation, architecture, and the narrative arts.
